If you’ve recently decided to adopt a Paleo lifestyle, you are most likely thinking that dessert is off the table. I must admit that a lot of Paleo dessert recipes look delicious but they are also very high calorie and high fat. I have 3 paleo desserts that will make you as happy as a caveman with matches.

Most recipes call for coconut sugar, honey or maple syrup. They also use a fair amount of nuts, butter, egg yolks and coconut oil.

While I’m not condemning these ingredients (they certainly deserve to be a part of a Paleo Diet), they are high calorie and can easily be over consumed.

Just because a recipe is Paleo doesn’t mean it should be eaten in excess. Just because I eat Paleo doesn’t mean my bad habit of over eating magically went away. I still have to be diligent about my calorie intake and be careful not to justify over-eating because it fits into my Paleo profile.

These 3 easy paleo desserts will curb your sweet tooth quickly without excessive calories. You can easily have one per day as part of a healthy Paleo diet and still stay lean.

Since they’re a lot more work and higher calorie, save the decadent Paleo desserts for special occasions.

 

Paleo Chocolate Ice Cream

1 cup coconut cottage cheese
1 cup coconut milk yogurt
1 frozen banana
6 tbsp. cacao powder
6 packets Stevia

Blend until creamy and freeze

 

Paleo Root Beer Float
1 can Hansen’s Diet Creamy Root Beer
½ cup Vanilla coconut milk
Ice
Water

Blend for 90 seconds

Paleo Fruit Smoothie
½ cup chopped strawberries
½ cup fresh blueberries
1/2 sliced banana
½ cups pineapple
1/2 cup coconut milk yogurt
2 cups crushed ice

In a blender, combine strawberries, blueberries, and banana and blend until smooth.
Add coconut yogurt and crushed ice and liquefy for 90 seconds
