Frequently Asked Questions
What can a Personal Trainer do for me?

A personal trainer is a coach, a teacher and a motivator. It is the personal trainer's job to assess your current physical and mental state, establish very specific goals, design an individualized program, and do whatever it takes to keep you on track towards getting results. That means motivating and pushing you forward to the point where you begin to see results and giving you continual encouragement and support so you keep the new fit body you have created.

How can a personal trainer be a coach?

Most personal trainers do not include coaching as part of their services. A person who assumes the role of a trainer may put you through workouts that may not be specifically tailored to your goals and needs. They meet you for a workout, often several times a week, and then send you on your way. Having a personal trainer who is a coach is a much different experience.

When you hire me, you are first and foremost hiring someone who is an expert in the field of fitness and training. My number one goal when working together is to bring you to the best conditioning of your life. It is to also ensure that we are working toward your goals in a very well thought out and thorough manner. Coaching provides actual GUIDANCE in a way that training does not.

What happens at the first Personal Training appointment?

Our first meeting will take more than an hour because I need to review your health history, as well as assess your current fitness level, current diet, needs and goals. I need to find out as much information as I can to help me design the right program for you.

What is a medical release and when is it necessary?

A medical release consists of a note from a healthcare provider stating any necessary exercise restrictions and/or provisions, or that states that you have been cleared to exercise with no restrictions. If you have a known medical condition (i.e., cardiovascular, metabolic, pulmonary, orthopedic, etc.) you will be required to obtain medical clearance from a healthcare provider before you can begin training. If you have symptoms suggestive of a clinical condition, or if you have multiple risk factors, you may be required to get clearance as well.

What if I am completely out of shape or a beginner?

I work with each client based on their current fitness level. Your program will be individually tailored to help you make steady progress towards achieving a higher level of fitness and well-being. My goal is to offer you valuable and empowering fitness advice, teach you how to safely and effectively lose fat, and to strategize with you on how to build a better fitness routine for you. It doesn’t matter where you start it’s where you finish that counts. As long as you have the drive and determination to do the necessary work, then I can show you how to get there.

Special consideration is given to beginning clients. My approach is a progressive style of training, so you will always be working at a level that is appropriate for your level of fitness. My goal is to make this progress as simple as possible to follow to ensure your success.

What type of fitness equipment is required for your personalized programs?

Since my personalized programs are completely customized to each individual, I can design a program with no equipment, some equipment or for use at any fitness center where you are a member. So, whatever equipment you do or don't have, I can work with you. If I’m training you in your home and you have equipment I’ll use it. If not, I am equipped to bring all of the necessary tools to give you a great workout.

How long will it take to see results from personal training?

The length of time you see results depends on a variety of factors: Your initial Fitness Level, Diet Nutrition, Genetics, Your Body, and Your Commitment. If you are committed, you will see results in less than a month. Most people want results instantly but that is nearly impossible. If you are committed to achieving your goals and you follow your program you will see results in a few weeks. Not only will you lose fat but your clothes will fit better and you’ll have more energy.

Where do you offer your Personal Training?

I offer In-Home Personal Training throughout Lower Bucks County, PA and Mercer County, NJ.

Why is the first stage of my Personal Training experience so important?

Did you know that 70-80% of people who start an exercise program drop out within the first two to three months? These are not good odds! However, the problem has nothing to do with the person but rather with the process. You have to have a plan for success. This is why the first few months of your Personal Training experience are so important. This is when most people drop out. It’s my job to get you past this stage to the point where you’re experiencing great results – and that will help to motivate you to keep going. So, whatever you do don’t stop working out before you have the chance to see the changes to your body.

What’s included in your in-home personal training programs?

My in-home program include resistance and cardiovascular training, nutrition counseling and coaching to work through the process, ensuring your success. This includes a complete nutrition program, meal plans, grocery list, and guidance from me to help re-educate you on eating to help you achieve your goals.

Why is nutrition important to my success?

Nutrition is 80% of getting and staying lean. I cover a lot of information on nutrition in my program because eating to fuel the body (and your metabolism) is the greatest “secret” to achieving maximum results from your fitness program. In fact, several of my clients had already been working out consistently for years with little to no results before they hired me. By simply changing their nutrition program they began to lose fat. If you have not seen dramatic results from your previous efforts, I can help you by focusing on the nutritional component in your program.

If you are training me at home will I still get the same results as I would get in a gym?

Absolutely! With my equipment and training techniques, I can recreate virtually any exercise you do in the gym. In fact, you’ll probably find my workouts to be more challenging and effective than any workout you’ve ever experienced!

I’m a woman and I don’t want to get big and bulky. Should I still lift weights?

Yes! Women should not be afraid of getting big and bulky like men, as it almost certainly will not happen. They simply do not have enough testosterone in their bodies to build as much muscle mass as men. Weightlifting will, on the other hand, tighten and strengthen weak muscles, and the increase in lean muscle will boost your metabolism causing your body to burn more calories throughout the day, even while you’re at rest!

I am currently pregnant. Is it safe for me to exercise?

It depends. Safety for you and your unborn child are the top priority when it comes to exercise during pregnancy, and there are many modifications that need to be implemented when exercising to ensure this safety. With that being said, a normal, healthy woman who is undergoing a normal pregnancy should be fine to exercise, but she should consult with a doctor before doing so.
